ErieNet LDC Recaps Progress to Date at First Annual Meeting
400-mile fiber network will connect countywide; work kicks off in April
What was the meeting all about?
Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz joined ErieNet LDC Board Chairman Thomas E. Baines and Executive Director Melissa Hartman for the first Annual Meeting of the ErieNet Corporation, held at ErieNet’s headquarters in Seneca One Tower in downtown Buffalo. At the meeting, Executive Director Hartman highlighted how far ErieNet has come in just one-year and the positive impacts that Erie County’s first open access broadband network will have for residents and businesses throughout Western New York.
What is ErieNet?
The 400-mile middle mile fiber optic backbone will connect all viable municipal entities, as well as key community anchor institutions (CAIs), such as business, educational, and healthcare entities. In addition, the network will be available to any viable entity in the County that wishes to subscribe to the network.
ECC’s role:
ECC Technologies conducted the initial study for the open-access network on behalf of Erie County in 2017. We also developed the business plan in which Erie County will operate the nearly 400-mile middle-mile fiber-optic network. ECC continues our work as the construction project manager and sales and marketing arm of ErieNet.
