Applications due 4/25/25 for NYS’s Municipal Infrastructure Program Phase 4

“…ConnectALL’s Municipal Infrastructure Program supports municipalities, state and local authorities, non-profits, and other entities established pursuant to Section 99-y of the New York State General Municipal Law to construct open access municipal broadband networks in their communities across the state. Broadband infrastructure funded through the Municipal Infrastructure Program will be owned by a public entity or publicly controlled. The program facilitates a variety of models of municipal broadband and public-private partnership, where eligible public entities, Tribal Nations, municipal utilities and utility cooperatives can partner with private partners like Internet Service Providers, Managed Service Providers, broadband infrastructure builders, and owners. The new infrastructure will be open to Internet Service Providers to provide New Yorkers with affordable, high quality service options….”

New Jersey Accepting BEAD Applications

“…The New Jersey Office of Broadband Connectivity (OBC) is pleased to solicit applications to prequalify for infrastructure funding from the New Jersey Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (NJ BEAD) program.

The NJ BEAD program represents a significant opportunity to expand broadband across New Jersey, with $263.7 million allocated by NTIA. During prequalification, potential subgrantees will provide select NTIA-required financial, operational, managerial and technical qualifications; only applicants who prequalify for NJ BEAD will be eligible to submit applications for funding.

As part of the prequalification process, OBC is excited to announce an upcoming webinar to guide potential applicants through the requirements and steps for prequalification…”

About

The 400-mile network backbone will connect all viable municipal entities, as well as key community anchor institutions (CAIs), such as business, educational, and healthcare entities. In addition, the network will be available to any viable entity in Erie County that wishes to subscribe to the network.

ECC Technologies conducted the initial study for the open-access network on behalf of Erie County in 2017. We also developed the business plan in which Erie County will operate the nearly 400-mile middle-mile fiber-optic network.

"Our firm is now 100% accountable for the success of this project," - ECC Technologies Vice President Matthew Crider

"This is a significant undertaking for the county," said ErieNet Chairman Thomas Baines. "I think the outcome is really what's most important."
