ErieNET Broadband Project - Designed and Managed by ECC Technologies
We’re proud to announce that ECC Technologies has been selected by Erie County to design and manage the construction of ErieNET, an Open Access Network totaling nearly 400 miles of fiber.
What will we be doing?
The network backbone will connect all viable municipal entities, as well as key community anchor institutions (CAIs), such as business, educational, and healthcare entities. In addition, the network will be available to any viable entity in the County that wishes to subscribe to the network.
ECC will develop all construction documents necessary for the ErieNET local development corporation (LDC) to bid out construction. ECC will assist the County in executing construction contracts and manage construction operations for a successful build.
ErieNet Overview and Mission
The mission is to create a foundation to address the broadband needs of unserved areas, improve services in underserved areas of the community and enable world-class broadband investment and deployment countywide. The fiber optic backbone will be owned by the county but managed and controlled by ErieNet, a not-for-profit local development corporation (LDC). ErieNet will be open for any viable entity to use or provide services to support broadband technologies and services. It is intended to enhance economic development opportunities, promote better quality of life and enhance Erie County as a globally competitive community.
